ELECTRICAL FACILITY CONVERSION PROJECT
-
Scope : To capture electrical facilities of a very
well reputed US based electricity distribution company. This included database
design, creating software tools, developing Quality Check routines, scrubbing
source maps and capturing all the electrical facilities.
Tasks involved :
-
Scanning of Facility Grid Maps.
-
Warping of the Scanned files.
-
Scrubbing the data on the source maps using different color
pens and highlighters. This makes the data on the source maps look more
informative. This process also eases the task of digitization and hence
helps in maintaining excellent quality.
-
Digitization – This task involves capturing all the
facilities as shown on the source maps. Various software tools developed
initially were used to capture different facilities as per the specifications
provided by the client. Database information was also fed simultaneously
during graphic placement of a facility.
-
Quality Check – Graphic and non-graphic data quality
checks were performed at this stage. Many Quality Check software routines
were used to check the validity of different database fields of the facilities
captured. Color plots were taken for each file to check for missing entities
and proper placement of the features. Specific software routines were developed
to check for snapping errors.
-
Delivery – Regular deliveries were made twice a week
of the graphic and non-graphic files on CD to the client.
