Petroleum backlog and operations support

Scope: To increase the spatial and attribute completeness of Company's Petroleum Infrastructure Dataset ("Petroleum Dataset"). The Petroleum Dataset comprises North American (USA, Canada and Mexico) pipelines, petroleum facilities (refineries, compressor stations, etc.), and interconnects.

Company has pipeline projects that need to be digitized using aerial photography (Arc2Earth, Google Earth, Mapquest, or other online sources).

Software used: ARCGIS, ARC2Earth

Processes followed

Geo referencing

With the use of ARC2EARTH tool, open Microsoft aerial images in ARCGIS and find the work area and geo reference the images.

Conversion:

Open Geo reference images in ARCGIS and check image is matching with actual maps (Microsoft Ariel images). Convert all Pipelines, facility polygons, Facilities and interconnects as per the project specifications.

Attribution:

As per the project specifications update all necessary attributes

Quality control:

Check all features are captured or not, and check for missing, extra features also.
Check all features attribution as per the project documents provided.
Check for topology and projection.

Quality assurance:

Randomly select some areas in total work area and check all features are converted as per the specification or not. Check for the Topology and projection.
Export features from Geo database to shape files.

Dispatching
